Posing practice/Study, 06/04/20

Image
I have decided to start doing short studies everyday in order to improve my observation skills. This consist of five to ten minute quick sketches using images off the pose generator. It has been some time since my last life drawing session. Things were starting slower than I had hoped for. Never the less I will continue to practice. There are a number of issues to note including, portions, weight and arcs, some of which are worse in certain exercises. As per usually I have also completed five minute poses using Maya which I will continue to do alongside the studies.

Animation practice - Wolf jumping, 30/03/20

Image
The blocking for the exercise was completed and the animation was gone over in the graph editor. This greatly helped to edited and smooth the arcs and momentum that is naturally carried in a jumping motion. Animating a quadruped was definitely something more difficult that required the animation to be watched over and over again before fully understanding it. Reference material was invaluable as with all animation. After using the rig I found that were some serious issues, the biggest being when thorax collapses when the front legs rise. Animation practice - Wolf blocking, 30/03/20

Image
It has been some time since the last post and it has been a strange period. Never the less I had made a start on a wolf animation. This begins with the blocking of the animation using a rig created by Truong Cg Artist. This proved to be a challenge as quadrupeds was something I do not normally animate. While I have theory from university I had yet to apply it within a 3D wold. However it is a challenge I quite enjoy. The facial features, tail and minor controls are yet to be fully animated for this segment. Personal Project - Rose scene, 18/03/20

Image
This is a slightly different post consisting of me and my partner. The image has been created using Maya and photoshop. It took a couple of trials and errors but I am quite happy with the final composition. This included the use of rendering with Arnold to create the correct lighting and sub-surface scattering in the roses. The rose, which has been previously shown, has been used with grass to populate the scene. A matte painting technique has also been used to create the sky. A bit more time was need to try and make the photo, maya scene and sky blend together in a cohesive fashion.  Final composition Photo taken at the 'Trickeye Museum Seoul' in Korea Element created in Maya photo and roses combined Today's five minute pose with the mery rig, this time with help from a SMLE prop from a previous project.
