Animation practice - Wolf jumping, 30/03/20

Image
The blocking for the exercise was completed and the animation was gone over in the graph editor. This greatly helped to edited and smooth the arcs and momentum that is naturally carried in a jumping motion. Animating a quadruped was definitely something more difficult that required the animation to be watched over and over again before fully understanding it. Reference material was invaluable as with all animation. After using the rig I found that were some serious issues, the biggest being when thorax collapses when the front legs rise. Animation practice - Wolf blocking, 30/03/20

Image
It has been some time since the last post and it has been a strange period. Never the less I had made a start on a wolf animation. This begins with the blocking of the animation using a rig created by Truong Cg Artist. This proved to be a challenge as quadrupeds was something I do not normally animate. While I have theory from university I had yet to apply it within a 3D wold. However it is a challenge I quite enjoy. The facial features, tail and minor controls are yet to be fully animated for this segment. Personal Project - Rose scene, 18/03/20

Image
This is a slightly different post consisting of me and my partner. The image has been created using Maya and photoshop. It took a couple of trials and errors but I am quite happy with the final composition. This included the use of rendering with Arnold to create the correct lighting and sub-surface scattering in the roses. The rose, which has been previously shown, has been used with grass to populate the scene. A matte painting technique has also been used to create the sky. A bit more time was need to try and make the photo, maya scene and sky blend together in a cohesive fashion.  Final composition Photo taken at the 'Trickeye Museum Seoul' in Korea Element created in Maya photo and roses combined Today's five minute pose with the mery rig, this time with help from a SMLE prop from a previous project. Project/update - Blocking torso, 17/03/20

Image
I have not have much time to add towards the torso. Nevertheless I feel like the majority of the tunic has been completed. All that is need is the arm and sleeve details. Soon after that I can add the collar and hands. More five minute pose exercises using the Mery rig. The first exercise proved a little dis-orienting as the camera was rotated 180 degrees. There are a few points of contact that I am missing in the five minutes given such as the head touching the ground render of exercise the 'right' way up

Project/update - Blocking torso, 13/03/20

Image
Continuing to model the torso, I have added sleeves and the lower section below the belt. As for now the upper torso is the most completed with several creases in the fabric. Never the less it is far from finished. The profile of the model had to be changed in-order to make sense in a 3D world. This has also included change the overall shape of the torso, no longer following the orthograph with complete accuracy. Details to be added to the torso include the shoulder material, belt details and some more creases. half of the tunic behind half of the tunic whole tunic whole tunic behind Five minute pose exercises, one using the bony rig the other two using the Mery rig.

Update - Flour bag, 05/03/20

Image
The flour bag animation was completed within two sessions after the initial post. This was done with a few errors. While I had based it on my Adobe Animate animation from university, there were some deviations. I decided to change the angle of the camera to increase the impact of the bag hitting the ground. My biggest gripe is the "floaty-ness" of the box and that the bottom left corner of the bag twists when it stands. However the latter should not be an issue as the animation is not suppose to be viewed from the front on. Neither the less, I felt it should be included. 2016 Animate animation five minute poses Aside from the Flour bad and Mery rig there was also the 'ultimate Bony' rig which can be downloaded at: https://www.behance.net/gallery/17774421/Ultimate-Rigs-for-FREE. The rig itself was simpler in-terms of fingers and facial features making the five minute posing exercise quick even for the first time. Reference images have been

Posing Practice - Mery rig, 02/03/20

Image
Doing some five minute pose exercise using the Mery rig, I found that the total amount of controls were more than that of Moom's. As a result the first few poses took a minute longer to block in before having the additional minute for fingers and face. After a while I got use to the rig and managed to complete poses just over fives minutes. Its been quite nice to use a new rig pose with but I will still be using Moom rig in the future.
