Animation practice - Wolf jumping, 30/03/20

Image
The blocking for the exercise was completed and the animation was gone over in the graph editor. This greatly helped to edited and smooth the arcs and momentum that is naturally carried in a jumping motion. Animating a quadruped was definitely something more difficult that required the animation to be watched over and over again before fully understanding it. Reference material was invaluable as with all animation. After using the rig I found that were some serious issues, the biggest being when thorax collapses when the front legs rise. Five minute pose using the Mery rig

Animation practice - Wolf blocking, 30/03/20

Image
It has been some time since the last post and it has been a strange period. Never the less I had made a start on a wolf animation. This begins with the blocking of the animation using a rig created by Truong Cg Artist. This proved to be a challenge as quadrupeds was something I do not normally animate. While I have theory from university I had yet to apply it within a 3D wold. However it is a challenge I quite enjoy. The facial features, tail and minor controls are yet to be fully animated for this segment. Update - Flour bag, 05/03/20

Image
The flour bag animation was completed within two sessions after the initial post. This was done with a few errors. While I had based it on my Adobe Animate animation from university, there were some deviations. I decided to change the angle of the camera to increase the impact of the bag hitting the ground. My biggest gripe is the "floaty-ness" of the box and that the bottom left corner of the bag twists when it stands. However the latter should not be an issue as the animation is not suppose to be viewed from the front on. Neither the less, I felt it should be included. 2016 Animate animation five minute poses Aside from the Flour bad and Mery rig there was also the 'ultimate Bony' rig which can be downloaded at: https://www.behance.net/gallery/17774421/Ultimate-Rigs-for-FREE. The rig itself was simpler in-terms of fingers and facial features making the five minute posing exercise quick even for the first time. Reference images have been ...

Update - Free rigs, 25/02/20

Image
Trying out new rigs for animation I found several which I quite liked. For starters a flour bag rig which is quite robust and easy to understand. The reason why I chose this rig was to redo my flash animation consisting of a flour bag. This is an animation task that is typically given to those new to animation.  Flour bag rig by Joe Daniels Download rig at:  https://gumroad.com/l/floursackmaya I started with the bag dropping which at first was too much like a body. This was due to the nature of flour bags loosing energy very quickly when they hit the ground which does look odd at times. This means that the bag should hit the ground with little to no bounce. I will continue to improve the animation of the bag getting up. Another rig was the Mery rig which I played around with before ending with a quick pose. To my knowledge this rig has not been set up with Arnold shaders and so will not be rendered so. This pose was quickly done without reference.  ...

Animation practice - Style close up, 25/01/20

Adding to the lip sync animation, I re-positioned the camera and animated various components of the upper body. This was completed within one sitting and helps to add a bit of character to an otherwise stiff performance.

Animation practice - Style, 19/01/20

The start of a short animation exercise involving lip syncing. The rig that I am using has some difficulty with producing the correct phonemes shapes but is able to get the general pronunciation. The voice clip that is used is from the 2007 film, ' Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix '.

A number of Adobe Animate exercises from university that look at timing, motion and studies An exercise focusing on slow in and slow out Another exercise focusing on motion and timing A practice in transitions Using a ball to display weight, arcs and motion Variety of weights displayed through a number of bouncing balls Weight shown through a character A simple study on a live person dragging a weight A simple study on a more unusual walk cycle A dance study A simple four-legged walk cycle

Animation practice - jogging, 13/01/20

Another animation exercise completed within one sitting. Instead of using the 'Moom' rig today I used my WW1 animation rig. This time it consists of a simple jog, however due to an issue in the IK arm controls I was not able to fix the slight pauses in the arms swinging in the graph editor.  reference,  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dmc_4X2SQIY

Animation and posing practice, 23/12/19 - 04/12/19

Image
This post contains a number of 10 minute pose exercises using reference material from the internet. These exercises have been completed with the Moom rig. If smaller details such as the facial expression and hands are not completed within the time limit I use an extra minute to finish the pose. Alongside poses there are also two animations also using the Moom rig.  reference,  https://mausspacearchive.tumblr.com/post/71051795104 reference,  https://thoughtcatalog.com/january-nelson/2018/05/dynamic-action-poses/ reference,  https://best-wallpaper.net/Smile-girl-jump-pose-white-background_wallpapers.html reference,  https://routgveriprt.com/?wmi=60935&lp=24&max=10&clickid=e57c5cc41fa56b77ff94c4b94bf10375-9964-1227# reference,  https://www.pinterest.at/pin/540713498985070098/ reference,  https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/21884748173515244/?lp=true reference,  https://www.yogiapproved.com...
