Start of a New Project

Image
Start of a new personal project. while I had many ideas and stories that I wanted to bring to life there was one that recently stuck. Recently, I had re-watched the 2005 film ' Welcome to Dongmakgol '.  I had seen this film many times as a child but never truly understood the plight, struggle or wider context of the film. Seeing it again as an adult the film remained heart-warming but the more serious segments stayed with me longer. It made me wonder what various characters' lives would have been like after the war. Youtube clip showing a number of scenes from ' Welcome to Dongmakgol ', (2005). For the first character I have started with the head. Currently I am away from my desktop but hopefully I can get the eyelids and ears modelled soon. character design in uniform and rig model of the character's head including a duplication that is mirrored Alongside modelling a character I had already done some design and modelling for

Animation practice - Style close up, 25/01/20

Adding to the lip sync animation, I re-positioned the camera and animated various components of the upper body. This was completed within one sitting and helps to add a bit of character to an otherwise stiff performance.

Animation practice - Style, 19/01/20

The start of a short animation exercise involving lip syncing. The rig that I am using has some difficulty with producing the correct phonemes shapes but is able to get the general pronunciation. The voice clip that is used is from the 2007 film, ' Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix '.

Posing practicing, 10/01/20 - 13/01/20

Once again I have been giving myself 5 minutes for the majority of each pose. Towards the last two poses I found myself running out of time, while quick I did find them more difficult. I found that it was pushing the rig a bit far deforming the pelvis area reference,  https://www.deviantart.com/thorvold/art/Surfer-Girl-245901491 reference,  https://www.deviantart.com/senshistock/art/Fan-Weapon-Dynamic-Magical-Pose-Reference-741988283 reference,  https://www.pinterest.co.uk/releasekrakens/dynamic-poses/ reference,  https://www.thestar.com/sports/tennis/2012/02/12/cox_injuries_pose_tricky_dilemma_for_tennis_players.html

Animation practice - jogging, 13/01/20

Another animation exercise completed within one sitting. Instead of using the 'Moom' rig today I used my WW1 animation rig. This time it consists of a simple jog, however due to an issue in the IK arm controls I was not able to fix the slight pauses in the arms swinging in the graph editor.  reference,  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dmc_4X2SQIY

Posing practice, 05/01/20 - 09/01/20

From now on I am trying to complete these pose exercises within a 5 minute time limit. Once again I am focusing on the stance as a whole and giving extra time for small details like the fingers and expression if needed. While there are many problems in each individual pose I am trying to speed up blocking while retaining the principle of weight. reference,  https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/449304500295811668/?lp=true reference,  https://weart.co/photographers/holger-pooten/ reference,  https://www.freepik.com/free-photo/beautiful-yoga-adho-mukha-vrksasana-pose_3938677.htm

Animation and posing practice, 23/12/19 - 04/12/19

This post contains a number of 10 minute pose exercises using reference material from the internet. These exercises have been completed with the Moom rig. If smaller details such as the facial expression and hands are not completed within the time limit I use an extra minute to finish the pose. Alongside poses there are also two animations also using the Moom rig.  reference,  https://mausspacearchive.tumblr.com/post/71051795104 reference,  https://thoughtcatalog.com/january-nelson/2018/05/dynamic-action-poses/ reference,  https://best-wallpaper.net/Smile-girl-jump-pose-white-background_wallpapers.html reference,  https://routgveriprt.com/?wmi=60935&lp=24&max=10&clickid=e57c5cc41fa56b77ff94c4b94bf10375-9964-1227# reference,  https://www.pinterest.at/pin/540713498985070098/ reference,  https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/21884748173515244/?lp=true reference,  https://www.yogiapproved.com/yoga-poses-2/fire-element/ ref
